Sharon Bainbridge: Are Hats Just for Ascot?

With an incredible bit of forward planning, our Programme Secretary Judith booked Sharon Bainbridge for our meeting the day after the Royal Wedding.

Sharon is a milliner and gave us a guided tour of the sorts of hats she makes and how they have been influenced by her City and Guilds embroidery. We also had a lively discussion on the hats at the previous day's wedding.

Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me on the day, but other members did take photographs so hopefully we can load some to the blog. In the meantime here's a link to Sharon's website

The meeting was well attended and we had a new visitor who had seen our flier in Headingley Library.

This year we're conducting an experiment of holding sewing sessions in the morning and talks in the afternoon. The morning meetings start at 10.30 and give the members of the group time to chat to one another and to discuss any problems they have with their work. Members are welcome to stay all day or to attend either the morning or afternoon session.
